Acting 1

Develop clear and expressive physicality and vocal technique. Through improvisation and short scenes, use those skills to take risks, make strong character choices, develop character relationships, and pursue objective. We recommend students take this class more than once, as this training builds the foundation for many of our higher-level courses.

Broadway Dance Jr.

Learn fundamental musical theatre techniques in jazz and modern dance. Put your new skills into action through choreography and performance, exploring favorite musicals such as School of Rock, Frozen,  and Matilda.

Broadway Voice Jr.

Explore the fundamentals of proper vocal technique including healthy warm-ups, breath support, control, pitch, diction, and projection. Apply your new skills to favorite Broadway tunes and contemporary pop hits.

Improv

Make it up as you go! Learn to trust your instincts, make dynamic choices on the fly, and spontaneously create original characters and storylines.

Showtime

Work with a director to rehearse a play while strengthening existing acting skills. Go in-depth on physical and vocal choices, character development, and stage movement. Students must be comfortable memorizing lines.

World Premiere

Work with your ensemble to put your own spin on a favorite story, character, or universe. Through acting exercises, group brainstorm, and improvisation, create a world premiere studio play.

MEA Camp: Actor’s Workshop: Scene Study (Grades 4-6)

Spend the morning with an acting coach tackling the fundamentals of ensemble and character creation. In the afternoon, get an introduction to script work using scenes from CTC mainstage productions.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL TRAINING for Grades 4-5

Our Pre-Professional Training courses are for intermediate and advanced students seriously considering a future in the arts. Students will be challenged to expand their skill set in a disciplined and technique-driven atmosphere. Students are expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment and independence and will be held to a high standard for focus, work ethic, attendance, and punctuality.

Pre-Professional classes are either a nine-week class or a four-week intensive. Students are allowed no more than one absence in a nine-week class and are allowed zero absences in a four-week intensive. All Pre-Professional offerings will have required homework between classes, such as reading articles and scripts, memorizing lines or lyrics, doing independent research, or reviewing choreography.


Acting 2

Build on the skills you learned in Acting 1 by applying vocabulary and technique to scripted material. Delve deep into next-level acting skills as you analyze text for objectives, stakes, obstacles, tactics, and playable actions.

Musical Theatre Intensive

Work with a choreographer and vocal coach to learn how to seamlessly combine healthy vocal production with dance combinations while convincingly acting the part. Challenge all three skills in the execution of ensemble numbers from beloved musicals.
Prerequisite: at least one session of Broadway Dance and one session of Broadway Voice, at any age level (or by audition)

Mainstage Musical Theatre Boot Camp for Grades 4-12

This fast-paced, interdisciplinary training program focuses on the in-depth musical theatre performance skills required for student actors performing on CTC’s mainstage. With an emphasis on learning, retaining, and performing choreography and song, this course models the rigor, dedication, and etiquette expected in professional rehearsal spaces. The age range of this course is intentionally reflective of the typical casting for mainstage productions at CTC, so that students will be able to practice collaborating in an ensemble with a wide age range. Students are expected to have a foundation in basic ballet and jazz vocabulary and technique. It is pre-requisite that students have a mastery of pitch, projection, and diction. Students will be held to a high standard for focus, stamina, and work ethic. Enrollment in this boot camp does not guarantee casting in a mainstage production.
